I’ve spent the last few days in tears, and after my evening run, these words poured straight from my soul.
The sunset is catching up with me.
I run faster.
Be stronger. Stronger.
The wind has undone my hair
and scattered my thoughts
across the hills.
Somewhere,
a bee is looking for a flower
that has already closed.
I wonder if it knows.
The cliffs are swallowing me whole.
The sea is keeping secrets again.
And I am here.
I have started writing poems for those
I will never give away.
Words buzzing
behind my teeth.
The rocks are beehives.
The wind hums inside them.
I stop running.
Everything is moving
except me.
I think about going north.
And then further.
The sky bleeding into the sea.
You run to fill the void.
My lungs are burning.
You are alone on this earth.
Run faster.
Faster.
Faster.
You cry walking home.
Passion is a force field.
Give me passion.
The road bends
and bends
and bends
The cliffs are breathing
beneath my feet.
